Don't know if you get to notice comment...Hi Holly! Don't know if you get to notice comments on old blogs - I am certainly very new to this online conversation world--- anyway, not the point --- Even as a more "traditional" homeschooler IN THEORY, I feel similar tensions each day as in practice the plans go out the window when we need more time on x and don't get to y. Anyway, I wanted to make sure to recommend to you www.mathonthelevel.com because it would fit so well with your style. It's not a textbook or workbook or anything. It's just an outline of basic skills with teaching suggestions (life-based) and a suggested strategy for reviewing what you've covered. The beauty is that you can do the topics in any order at any time you choose- thus both the "checklist" and the flexibility we crave. Also check out www.livingmath.net if you haven't already!Jessica Waggenernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3245131160534112763.post-63571661948566434182009-03-05T23:07:00.000-06:002009-03-05T23:07:00.000-06:00Oh Holly I TOTALLY feel you on your inner battle! ...Oh Holly I TOTALLY feel you on your inner battle! I KNOW that this is the best path for us and I TOTALLY grip, understand, and LOVE the concept but that dang inner voice seems to come up, even more so when other's seem to hint judgment when they hear that he can't spell his name, or count to 20 or other 'standards' that have been set by the local schools here. I am reminded of how wonderful this path is for us when I see him excited about tracing letters, or asking about things that other kids his age would never care to ask or think about. He might not act like his local peers, ( something that DOESN'T bother me a bit!) but more and more adults have noted to me how mature he is in HOW he thinks. I firmly believe it is because he is learning with life and not being molded to act like a bunch of other kids. <BR/>I love hearing your take on the journey, I get a sense of commradery with a few other locals like me but to have a fellow family member, it is nice to have that bond with you as well. I have said it before and I will say it again, those first steps that you taught me to take were the first of many and I still learn to walk from you everyday!StoicBirthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05816214501776673331noreply@blogger.com
